I'm Mara, I'm from the Caribbean and I really love painting my nails.
I started doing nail art while doing my undergraduate degree. I studied in Toronto and it was cold and snowy, and this Caribbean girl did NOT go outside if she could help it!! All those hours cooped up indoors had me hobby hunting and I bounced around from craft to craft until I sat down one evening to paint my nails and BAM! HOOKED!
I decided on naming my blog Topcoat Therapy for two reasons. One is that my first degree is in Psychology, and the other is that nail art really soothes me. I usually do my nails on a Sunday evening, and if Monday rolls around and my nails are bare, I know I'm going to have an off week. When I sit down to polish my nails, I feel really relaxed and I just zone out for a while and concentrate on this fun, creative endeavour.
I really want to share my relaxing hobby with like-minded people, so I hope that you enjoy reading about my weekly designs as much as I enjoy doing them!
So I totally love how you say that nail art soothes you. I'm not that adventurous so I generally stick to solid colours, but doing my nails is like a familiar ritual. It's relaxing, it's comforting... it's a nice little enclave out of the busy rigamarole of life. SO EXCITED you started the blog. Can't wait to see what else you come up with! :D
ReplyDeleteThank you!! I got into the designs slowly; it started with colour blocking at first, then polka dots and then before I knew it I was trying to re-create my plaid bedsheets and doing manicures based on my favourite football club!
DeleteI really agree with the time taken to polish nails as a quiet respite from the hectic day-to-day.
I'm so happy I've got your support!! ♥
